TLDR? A breath from the city and noise, and an encounter with nature. that is Segovia!
You might think you won’t be able to find a comfortable hotel or good place to camp in a small town far away from the city.
Luckily, this isn’t the case in Segovia. Even though it’s small, there are some pretty spectacular places to go camping.
If you ask me, the best campsite in Segovia is Verde Oliva, a quaint and cozy place to spend the night. Want more details? Then read ahead!
Verde Oliva’s quiet atmosphere is the perfect place to wake up in the morning to the singing of birds, or stay in bed all day and enjoy the cloudy landscapes.
If you want to keep it rugged by camping and cooking for yourself or get a bit more luxurious by lounging in the hot tub with a cocktail in hand, Verde Oliva has options for all tastes.
The always-friendly staff provides everything you need to celebrate a special date or simply get a bit of reprieve from the noise of the city.
Overall, this camping spot in Segovia stands out for its food, cabins, campsite, and family-friendly atmosphere.
Only twenty minutes from the village, Verde Oliva is the best glamping spot in Segovia. I recommend booking several weeks in advance, as it’s a very popular spot for celebrations and large groups.
You can take a taxi to the campsite from the village, or walk if you’re looking for a bit of exercise. If you get turned around, ask anyone in the village, and they’ll be able to get you back on the right track.
Address: Segovia, Antioquia
The rooms at Verde Oliva are comfy and cozy, especially for couples. The cabins overlook a small stream branching from the Bagre River, with the perfect place to sit, drink a glass of wine, and enjoy the view.
Each cabin includes a double bed, fan, natural water jacuzzi with hydromassage, catamaran mesh (a kind of hammock,) and a private outdoor shower. You’ll also be greeted with a welcome cocktail!
There’s a handful of activities for campers to participate in at Verde Oliva. Let’s take a look at a few different things you can do!
In Segovia, the temperature can reach up to 87°F, so you might want to spend the day in the cool, natural waters of the Jacuzzi. It gets colder at night, so take advantage of the hot jacuzzi while gazing up at the stars.
It’s almost too easy to fall asleep in the catamaran mesh for a midday nap or read a book while you relax.
The area overlooking the river is a wonderful place to organize a picnic during the day or make a campfire on a starry night.
There are also common areas with spots for campfires if you’re spending the night with a group of friends. If you’re there to celebrate your birthday or hold an engagement party, ask the staff to decorate your spot with balloons and lights.
If you want to connect a little more with nature, put aside the jacuzzi and cool down in the stream.
You can also bring your fishing rod to test your fishing skills and try to catch lunch!
Camping is available for guests who prefer to be outdoors – you can bring your own tent. The best place to camp is near the stream, where the ground is flatter and better for setting up camp.
That being said, I highly recommend you bring some bug spray. In the evenings the banks of the steam are full of annoying insects like mosquitos.
Despite the bugs, I personally think this is the best place to stoke your campfire and roast some sausages.
If you want to surprise your date with a culinary feast, order one of Verde Oliva’s baskets of pre-cut meats. All you have to do is roast them! The basket also includes two bottles of beer to accompany the meal.
One of my favorite things about Verde Oliva is their restaurant.
Their specialties are burgers and sandwiches of all kinds, made with fresh, natural ingredients. You can even order a personalized menu for dinner with that special someone.
Insider tip: try the churrasco with wine, BBQ sauce, passion fruit, and bacon. I promise you’ll love it!
The restaurant also provides a breakfast of cereals, fruits, and a hot drink of your choice!
While it might be a bit off the beaten track, Verde Oliva is an awesome place to stay if you’re into the great outdoors. Not only will you be able to sleep under the stars, but you’ll get to do so with great creature comforts.
So, what do you say? Are you ready to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of Medellín? Book a stay at Verde Oliva for a glamorous campground experience!
