TLDR? Piedras Blancas Park is a natural space in Medellin to rest and relax.
Medellin’s one of the cities in Colombia that preserves the most natural spaces in the middle of the buildings.
The city of eternal spring allows you to escape from its urban area for a while without going very far. One of the best plans to do so is the Parque Piedras Blancas in the corregimiento of Santa Elena.
In this article, I’ll tell you about my experience and what you can find in this beautiful natural space in Medellín!
Getting to the park is quite simple!
You have two options: using public transport or going by private car.
Take the metro in Medellín and go to the Acevedo station. Once you are there, look for the cable metro line K.
The Medellin metrocable is one of its attractions, allowing you to see the city and its many natural spaces from above.
On the metro cable, you must go to the Santo Domingo station and, from there, take line L to Parque Arví.
Outside the Parque Arví station, a bus to Comfenalco runs every hour. The bus is free! And it takes approximately ten minutes to get to the park.
If you’ve rented a car, I recommend you use your favorite GPS and follow the directions.
One of the options is via the Medellín-Bogotá highway, but if you take this route, you’ll have to pay the Copacabana toll.
On the other hand, you can go through the Santa Elena corregimiento. During the tour, you’ll be able to appreciate the view of the trees that line the road. On this road, you won’t find tolls of any kind.
Parque Piedras Blancas has a parking lot.

Address: Kilómetro 14 antigua vía Piedras Blancas, Guarne, Santa Elena, Antioquia
This park belongs to Comfenalco, one of the entities that provide benefits to its members in Colombia. You’ll find rates for members and non-members to carry out the activities.
Parque Piedras Blancas is a place to go with friends, with your family, or even take your pet! There’s a small dog park for your dog to have fun.
This place’s a park and a hotel, so you can just spend a day or make a reservation at the hotel that includes the activities in the park.
I found the room quite comfortable and spacious. It includes a table if you want to get some work done inside the room.
There are also two types of plans for coworking with different amenities, and you can reserve the three meals of the day at the hotel’s restaurant.
You can tour the trails in the middle of nature until you reach the bridge. It’s a nice place with a perfect view of the green areas and the lake.
The park has different green areas and gardens, where you can appreciate various plants and flowers of different colors.
The butterfly garden isn’t a large space, but it’s full of butterfly species you can appreciate!
Although you can only observe the whole place for yourself, it’s nice to listen to the explanation of how the butterflies grow and which plants are in the butterfly garden.
The hotel has a lake where you can go and take a boat ride! There’s a small island full of trees in the middle, which you can reach.
If you’ve never gotten on one, it’s not that complicated! The lake’s a quiet space. Just be careful not to collide with other boats, and enjoy!
Camping is also an option if you don’t want to stay at the hotel.
The camping area’s an open space in the middle of a large, well-kept green area, near a small river and a pet park.
If you’re afraid of seeing insects up close, you shouldn’t worry: this museum only has stuffed insects, and it’s the best place to learn about these small animals.
Something surprising is knowing that in Colombia, there are still areas where they consume insects and that there’s even a species of ant that is an export product!
The idea of the museum is to communicate the importance of insects in our ecosystem. Here you can see a wide variety of insects from different regions of the country.
If you’re looking for a plan to spend a pleasant time with friends or a weekend with your family or partner, Parque Piedras Blancas is your best option in Medellín!
It’s easily accessible, cheap, and ideal for breathing different air and enjoying a much cooler climate than the city.
