However, since these restaurants are off the beaten path, you will need insider info to find them. Are you hungry? Let’s get started!
Where to Get a View of Jardin, Colombia
Jardin is a place that is often overlooked due to its remote location, but those in the know will tell you that it is worth the effort to get there. This small town tucked away in the Andes Mountains is home to some of the best restaurants in Colombia.
While you will find family-owned restaurants similar to the ones in Guatape. The restaurants in Jardin don’t get the same tourist traffic so you can get an authentic experience without all the crowds.
Plus, you don’t see the price jump you often find in more popular tourist destinations.
You can order drinks and appetizers to enjoy while you wait for your main course. Like most Colombian restaurants, the entries are served family-style, so come hungry!
Some of their most popular dishes include the bandeja paisa but also barbecue ribs and chicken.
They also have a wide selection of drinks, including cocktails, beer, and wine.
La Terraza is open daily for lunch and dinner, but be sure to get a looking out over the town as the sun starts to set.
In order to get to La Terraza, you can either do a short hike or take a tuk-tuk. As we mentioned earlier, if you have a day hike planned for Cascada La Escalera, this is a great place to refuel afterward.
However, a tuk-tuk is a cheap way to get there. You can grab one at Parque Principal and let them know when you need to be picked up.
There are two ways you can get to the restaurant La Garrucha:
If you choose to hike, then you will take a scenic loop by Cascada Amor and River Corazon. This hike does take about an hour one way, so it is best to leave early in the morning.
In case you are not an early riser or don’t feel like hiking, no worries! You can take the cable car which is located near Parque Principal.
This will take you right up to the restaurant in just a few minutes. You can either pay for a round-trip ticket or just a one-way ticket if you plan on hiking back down.
Once you arrive at La Garrucha, you will be blown away by the views. The restaurant is located on top of a hill and has outdoor seating that looks over the entire town.
The menu offers traditional Colombian dishes as well as snacks such as empanadas. La Garrucha is a fun place to hang out and relax.
Plus, taking the cable car is different from Medellin’s cable car system. The cable car in Jardin is manually operated and only goes up and down when requested.
It’s a fun thing to do while in town and makes for a great photo opportunity. Unfotruanlty, there isn’t an address or website for La Garrucha.
But, if you ask anyone in town, they will be able to point you in the right direction.
Mirador la Herrerita
While it isn’t a full restaurant, Mirador la Herrerita does offer snacks and drinks. It is the perfect place to go for a coffee or beer while enjoying the incredible views of Jardin.
However, you can still get your fill on arepas, empanadas, and other Colombian snacks.
What sets this spot apart is the atmosphere and incredible views. You can relax in a deck hammock which is a giant hammock built into the deck.
Or, you can enjoy the views from one of the many chairs and tables that are set up. If you are a bird lover, you will be happy to know that many hummingbirds come to feed on the flowers surrounding the mirador.
This is a great place to relax and soak up the rays. Just be sure to put on sunscreen as there is no shade.
Mirador la Herrerita is about a 5 minute walk from La Garrucha. You can go here first, enjoy some snacks and drinks and then have a nice meal at La Garrucha.
Or, if you are not feeling hungry, you can just enjoy the views from Mirador la Herrerita.
