About The 2022 Arabic Festival

The Arabic Festival started in 2007. And it has been an awaited event every year since then. This festival brings together famous dance artists each year to allow members to participate in fun dance workshops. 

For a fixed price, you can join several workshops to harness your dancing queen energy! Also, the Arabic Festival features famous dishes from the Middle East for you to try. And this year, the Arabic Festival celebrates its 14th year! 

The 2022 Arabic Festival takes place in Medellin, Colombia. Special events and workshops will take place from September 6 to 11, 2022. But there are still activities you can check for the rest of September for free! 

Because of the ongoing pandemic, this year’s festival takes on a hybrid setting. Some workshops will happen face-to-face, while others virtually.

Rates depend on the workshops you’ll be joining. And it’s best to register ahead of time so you’ll not run out of slots! 

The Guest Artists

The festival invited nine guest artists to join the fun! And because the event is in a hybrid setting, you’ll meet three artists in person and the remaining six virtually. 

Artists in Person

Joining this year’s Arabic Festival allows you to meet famous artists from Ukraine, Egypt, and Brazil. 

Diva Darina

Feel like a Diva by joining Diva Darina’s workshop and program. She’s from Ukraine and has won several dance competitions worldwide. 

Darina obtained a degree from the Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. And because of her creative dance skills, she’s famous for Diva Style, her unique dance teaching system. 

The Diva Style is based on safe techniques to engage your muscles and joints during dancing. Today, It’s one of the best dance methods in the world. Moreover, the Diva Style has been used in most international dancing festivals. 

Mohamed Shahin

If you want to learn Egyptian dance skills, check out workshops by Mohamed Shahin. He is a world-renowned choreographer of Egyptian oriental dance. But today, he has branched out and started mastering dancing styles from the Middle East.

Mahaila el Halwa

Mahaila el Halwa is a choreographer and dancer representing Brazil. She was the champion of belly dancing in most festivals. El Halwa continues to become a famous dance icon as she refines and masters her dancing skills. 

Online Artists

This year, the Arabic Festival is fortunate enough to have the following icons grace their online presence to the festival attendees:

• Brenda – a dancing icon from Egypt
• Mercedes Nieto – world-famous delicate dancer from Hungary
• Amel Tafsout – charismatic artist showcasing African dances
• Assala Ibrahim – a famous dance teacher from Iraq
• Ibrahim Dimos – dance teacher and choreographer of Egyptian folklore dances
• Ariel Khalih – Famous belly dancer from Brazil 

Main Activities

Aside from guest artists gracing the festival, there are also eventful presentations and programs you can choose from. Each show has a different schedule and price range. 

Med Gala

The Med Gala is a face-to-face program consisting of two entertaining shows. It’s scheduled on September 9, 2022, at Teatro Universidad de Medellin. The two shows include the following:

• Gala De Estrellas – at 6 pm showcasing beautiful sceneries in Colombia, free of charge
• Gala De Super Estrellas – at 8 pm featuring famous guest artists, tickets cost 60,000 COP for the center window, 40,000 COP for the side window, and 20,000 for the balcony.

The best thing about the Med Gala is that you can join and be part of the program! That’s considering your group consists of five or more members. 

Open State and Red Carpet 

The Red Carpet Open State will take place on September 11, 2022, in Hotel Tryp. Tickets cost 20,000 COP. Plus, you’ll get free snacks with the admission tickets! 

The Red Carpet opens at 6 pm. During this time, get the chance to take countless selfies with your friends. 

The presentation of the open state opens at 6:30 pm. Anyone is free to join the show – whether you’re a soloist or in a group! Register through this link, and pay the corresponding fees:

• 40,000 if you’re a soloist
• 20,000 per participant for groups

Other Events

Master classes are also available online and in person, aside from the activities mentioned. They’re great tools to enhance your grooving skills and dance the night away! 

Private masterclasses, they will take place on September 9, 2022. A maximum of 20 people can join each masterclass with guest speakers Mahaila and Mohamed Shahin. 

There’s also a mega dance workshop happening on September 10 and 11, 2022. The face-to-face teachers are:

• Mohamed Shahin
• Diva Darina
• Mahaila el Helwa

While the online teachers are the following:

• Ibrahim Dimos
• Mercedes Nieto
• Brenda
• Amel Tafsout
• Assala Ibrahim
• Ariel Khalih 

And for a bonus, participants also get free 6 hours worth of workshops. Workshops are available live through the event platform zoom access. But you can still access them post-event.
