Guayabal is in the Comuna 15, located in the southwestern zone of the city, and borders the neighborhoods of Belen, El Poblado, the municipality of Itagūí, and the Corregimiento of Altavista, a small mountainous hamlet.
This neighborhood began to have autonomy as Guayabal more or less in 1925 after separating from Belen.
