TLDR: Medellin has many linear parks in different areas of the city to go out with your pet!
There are some pet owners who can’t conceive of life without their four-legged friend, not even on vacation. That’s why many people seek certificates and permits that allow them to take their furry friend anywhere!
If this sounds like you and you’re staying in Medellín with your pet, I’m sure you’re looking for some pet-friendly places to visit with your best bud.
If you don’t know which parks around the city are open to dogs, read ahead! I’ll walk you through the different parks and spaces in Medellín where you and your pup can have a great time together.
Telemedellin is a regional channel in Medellin providing varied programming, including news and educational programs. Their headquarters, Canal Parque Gabriel Garcia Marquez, is located in a large wooded area. This place is accessible to the public as a park.
The site, located in El Poblado, is a natural area surrounded by trees, shade, wooden paths, small ponds full of fish. Plus, there are even games for your little ones.
The Canal Parque is the perfect place to spot the birds and animals inhabiting the natural areas of the city, such as opossums. The area also has a wealth of plant life and is a great area to take your dog for a long walk.
Keep in mind that your dog must be leashed everywhere but the Maria dos Prazeres Dog Park, where you can let them off leash to meet some new canine friends!
The Canal Parque truly has everything and is easy to get to, especially if you’re staying in the south of the city.
If you’re taking public transport, make sure you’re aware of the requirements needed to bring your furry friend on public transport, though I recommend renting a car to keep everyone comfortable and safe.

Also located in El Poblado, the Parque Lineal la Presidenta is known as the green heart of the area, thanks to its large amount of vegetation and trees.
La Presidenta is a large path crossed by pedestrian paths and bridges. The beautiful Quebrada Lan Presidenta waterfall gives the park a fresh and natural touch amidst the traffic and pollution of city life.
This tranquil spot is a lovely place for a dog walk, and I’m sure you’ll meet fellow animal lovers walking their furry friends as well.
The best thing about the park is that it doesn’t take you around in circles like other smaller parks. You can go from one corner to another for some good exercise.
Another one of the park’s attractions, in addition to its close location for those staying in El Poblado, is that there is a cafe and restaurants with outdoor tables located by the entrance to the park if you work up an appetite on your walk!

The Conquistadores neighborhood is located between Laureles and the Medellín River. The area stands out for its tranquility, silence, modern buildings, and large houses.
The neighborhood’s value has increased thanks to Parques del Río. This is a recent project in Medellín, and the neighborhood parks have always been a favorite for pet owners.
In this sector, there are several mini-parks one after another. So, taking your dog on a jaunt won’t ever feel monotonous—you can vary parks, walks, and routes.
Many people in the neighborhood have a furry friend, and you’re sure to see at least one dog in the small Conquistadores parks.
If you are staying in Laureles, I highly recommend checking out these spots! I promise your pup will love it.

Parque Lineal Ciudad del Rio is located right in front of the Museum of Modern Art. There are a ton of activities in this area. You can go to the skate bowl, have a picnic, or walk your pet.
This safe, quiet space has been steadily growing over the years. Lately, it’s become more commercial and is full of Medellín’s signature street art.
I highly recommend taking your dog to Ciudad del Rio and taking advantage of different green areas. Take a walk, play fetch or relax in the grass together.
If your pup is friendly, there are always a ton of other dogs around for your adventure buddy to play with.

If you’ve traveled with your pet to Medellín, the last thing you have to worry about is finding parks for both of you to enjoy your time in the city. So don’t hesitate to hit the city and start walking!
