Medellin, Colombia has great food and there is no doubt about it. However, El Poblado is one neighborhood or barrio that you definitely want to check out.
While you can get typical Colombian cuisine a tourist can’t go wrong with a good burrito. However, finding a place that specializes in burritos can be tricky.
However, you’re in luck, because there are three places in El Poblado that serve some of the best burritos you will ever have. Are you ready to find out where these places are? Then keep reading!
Medellin is a place that offers tourists several tourist attractions. From botanical gardens, rooftop bars, ancient churches, and colonial buildings, the city has something for everyone.
The city is also filled with delicious food. From arepas to empanadas and tamales, there are several places to get traditional Colombian cuisine.
However, for a tourist exploring the most popular neighborhood in Medellin, El Poblado, a burrito can satisfy their hunger.
The problem is finding a place that is worth the money and trip. You will find that El Poblado has an abundant amount of quick and sit-down restaurants.
Finding one that specializes in a quality burrito can be challenging. After careful research and personal experience, these are the three best places to get a burrito in El Poblado, Medellin.
Keep in mind, these are not your sit down and drink a margarita type of place. These are places that Chipolte and your local taqueria would be jealous of.
So, are you ready to cure that hangover? Or maybe you are just looking for a quick and tasty lunch? Then check out one of these places!
With several locations in Medellin including Laureles and El Poblado, it is easy to get your hands on one of these burritos.
Barrita Burrito can satisfy anyone’s burrito craving. However, it can be tough to decide on the size of your burrito.
There are two sizes you can choose from 25 cm or 30 cm. While it doesn’t seem like much of a difference, the extra 5 cm adds a lot more filling.
In addition, Barrita Burrito offers a Burrote which is a 30 cm burrito with two choices of proteins. Burrito loves can double up one or mix and match their favorite proteins including:
Keep in mind, that there’s a big difference between the small and large. When you compare them side by side one looks like a football while the other is the size of a nerf ball.
In addition to burritos, you can enjoy tacos, burrito bowls, nachos, salads, or quesadillas. For digital nomads and businesspeople looking to grab a bite to eat in between meetings, they also offer combo meals that come with a drink and a side.

Situated away from the hustle and bustle of El Poblado, El Paso Tex Mex is worth the trip. This burrito spot is similar to my pick above, Barrita Burrito.
With two sizes to choose from and an array of protein options, you can’t go wrong with El Paso Tex Mex.
However, instead of chili with meat, you choose between chicken, pork, and steak. Whichever you choose you won’t be disappointed.
Where El Paso Tex Mex separates itself is spicy salsa. They have a medium and spicy salsa but the daring will want to try their extra spicy salsa.
The extra spicy salsa isn’t out front where you can see it, you have to ask for it. If you are a fan of spicy food then this is the place for you.
Just remember, a little goes a long way. I would recommend starting with the medium and working your way up.
In addition to burritos, they offer tacos, quesadillas, burrito bowls, and soups. While it isn’t near the crowd, it is a great place to get away and enjoy a quality meal.

Last but not least we have Burritoz. Burritoz has two locations in Laureles and El Poblado.
Unlike the other two I mentioned, Burritoz has set menu items. However, feel free to customize your burrito with a friendly staff.
If you need a recommendation, then go with the al pastor burrito. The al pastor is marinated pork that is slow-cooked and has a unique flavor.
You can also ask to mix the al pastor with chicken. The staff is more than happy to accommodate you.
In addition to their al pastor burrito, they offer shredded pork, grilled chicken, and vegetarian option.
One thing to note is that Burritoz only has one size burrito. Unlike the two burrito places we talked about earlier, there is only one size to choose from.
So, if you aren’t starving, then split one with a friend or take the leftovers home. You can also choose a burrito bowl, vegetable bowl, quesadilla, or nachos.

While each burrito place in El Poblado is similar, they all offer something unique. For example, El Paso Tex Mex takes the cake when it comes to spice.
You can really get your mouth burning if you aren’t careful. However, it isn’t an easy walk from the center of El Poblado. Still, with several rideshare options in Medellin, it is worth the trip.
Burritoz doesn’t have size options but they offer protein options the other two don’t have. So, if you want to try a killer al pastor or barbecue shredded pork then this is the place for you.
Last but not least, I have Barrita Burrito. If you’re looking to only eat one meal a day then order a 30 cm (11.8 in) burrito. It’s big enough to satisfy the hungriest of appetites.
Honestly, Colombian and Mexican food couldn’t be more different. While you may find rice and beans in both cuisines, that’s about where the similarities end.
The food in Medellin will be loaded with rice, beans, arepas, and sausage. On the contrary, in Mexico, you’ll find street vendors at 7 am serving street tacos.
While typical dishes like a bandeja paisa in Colombia or tacos de al pastor in Mexico are delicious, they’re quite different.
However, the burritos mentioned in this article aren’t authentic Mexican meals. They’re Americanized versions that have found a home in El Poblado.
But that doesn’t mean they aren’t made with love and care. So, if you’re looking for a quick and delicious burrito then any of these places will do the trick.
Choosing the best burrito place in El Poblado is a personal preference. If you don’t want to leave your Airbnb, check out Rappi.
Rappi is a Colombian food delivery service that will bring you anything you want from any restaurant in El Poblado. You can order your food through their app and it will be delivered to your door in under an hour. So, if you’re feeling lazy, let Rappi do the work for you.
Overall, if you have a burrito craving in El Poblado then you are in luck. The three places in this article will leave you stuffed and happy.
