TLDR? The best pizza place in Laureles is Pane e Pomodoro.
Medellin has just about every type of food you could want, from local traditional dishes to international cuisine. There are plenty of options for every budget, and the city offers a wide variety of dining experiences.
But if you are staying in the up-and-coming Laureles area, where can a person get a good slice of pizza?
In this article, we’ll discuss the top three pizza places in Laureles. I apologize in advance for making you drool.
Most tourists book a stay in El Poblado due to its location near many of Medellin’s top attractions. However, Laureles is a great alternative for those who want to stay in a more local and authentic neighborhood.
Laureles has a vibrant food scene with plenty of options for every taste and budget. There are also several great pizza places in Laureles that will satisfy your cravings for this classic Italian dish.
But does Colombia have good pizza? In my personal experience, I haven’t had great pizza in Latin America, so I was hesitant. However, after having some of the best burgers, empanadas, and arepas of my life in Colombia, I decided to give it a try.
While Medellin does have some amazing Paisa cuisine, it also has some great pizza places that are worth trying. So, if you are booking a stay in Laureles or are just looking for a good slice of pizza, here are the top three pizza places in Laureles.
Our first stop is Simon’s Pizza and Beer; with almost 2,000 reviews on Google and a 4.8-star rating, it is one of the most popular pizza places in Laureles. In addition to the impressive reviews, Simons Pizza and Beer has a couple of pizzas that won the Pizza Master competition.
First off, the restaurant is located in a beautiful neighborhood in Laureles. The brick-built building has outdoor seating that is perfect for people watching.
As the name suggests, Simon’s specializes in pizza and beer. The menu has a wide variety of pizzas with traditional and unique toppings. There are also several national and international beers available.
The prices are reasonable, and the portions are large. The service is also great, and the staff is very friendly.
We opt for two personal pizzas (four slices) and a couple of beers. The crust is similar to a deep dish and is very thick and doughy but with a nice crisp on the outside. The sauce is flavorful, and the cheese is plentiful.
Even though each personal pizza is only 4 slices, it is very filling. You also can’t beat pairing it with a Club Colombia or Coke.
If you are looking for a great pizza to take the family or a large group, Simon’s is your best bet.

From family pizza to finer dining, our next stop is Pane e Pomodoro. This gourmet pizza place has an impressive menu with a wide variety of pizzas, seafood, pasta, salads, and desserts. The restaurant also has an impressive wine list.
Pane e Pomodoro is built around a tree on the corner of the street. The seating feels like you are dining in a sunroom with large windows and potted plants. The atmosphere is inviting, and the service is great.
The menu doesn’t have has as many pizzas as Simon’s, but the pizzas are more gourmet. In addition, they only offer one size of six large slices.
We highly recommend trying the Bella Ciao, which is a pesto base with prosciutto, fresh cherry tomatoes, and burrata cheese. The thin crust is crispy, and the toppings are fresh and flavorful.
The pizza was absolutely delicious, and the crust was some of the best we’ve had. It was thin and crispy with the perfect amount of char.
In addition, Pane e Pomodoro offers lunch and daily specials. These are great deals for your lunch break.
If you are looking for a more upscale pizza experience, Pane e Pomodoro is the place for you.

A small place with a big emphasis on toppings, BJ Pizza, is a Laureles favorite. This pizza place screams neighborhood hangout with its casual atmosphere and small seating area.
BJ Pizza is on the corner of the street with some sidewalk seating. The inside is small with only a few tables. The walls are covered in graffiti, and the menu is written on a chalkboard.
Even though the atmosphere is casual, the service is great. The staff is friendly and efficient. Every single worker helped create our pizza and got it to us in less than 10 minutes.
The pizza itself was different than any other we’ve had in Laureles. It was similar to the original bar pizza from the United States. The crust was thin and crispy with a generous amount of cheese and sauce.
The toppings were also plentiful, and we could tell that they were fresh. You can’t go wrong with a classic pepperoni pizza at BJ’s.
They do offer delivery if you can’t make it to the restaurant. However, we recommend dining in and getting the full experience.
It is a cash-only establishment, so make sure to bring some Colombian pesos.

Each one of these places has its own unique atmosphere and menu. However, if we had to choose one, our favorite pizza place in Laureles is Pane e Pomodoro.
The Bella Ciao pizza was some of the best we’ve ever had. The thin crust was crispy and perfectly charred. The toppings were fresh and flavorful. In addition, the service was great, and the restaurant had an inviting sunroom feel.
If you are looking for a gourmet pizza experience, Pane e Pomodoro is the place for you.
But then there is the family feel of Simon’s Pizza and Beer and the casual hangout of BJ’s Pizza. So, it really depends on what you are looking for in a pizza place.

It’s easy to think that Latin American countries can’t compete with other world cuisines. But, Medellin has proved that wrong. The pizza here is some of the best we’ve ever had.
Another thing that we noticed about Medellin is that they love their cheese. Most of the pizzas we had came loaded with mozzarella and other cheeses.
In other countries in Latin America, it just didn’t seem that cheese was as big of a deal. But, in Medellin, cheese is definitely king.
In addition to the cheese on the pizza, don’t forget to try any street food that comes your way. Arepas, empanadas, and palitos de queso are just a few of the delicious snacks you’ll find. So, make sure to try everything!
