Want to try the best one? Our top pick is URVINO Vinos y Licores in Manila!

If you’re a wine-lover like me, you probably enjoy a good wine tasting from time to time. It’s a nice way to connect with friends and explore the culinary scene in a new place.

Now, while Medellin is better known for coffee and chocolate, that’s not to say that there aren’t some spectacular wine tastings in the area.

So, what do you say? Do you want to try some Medellin wine?

If you’re ready to sip, swirl, and savor your way through some of Medellin’s top wine spots, keep reading. I’ve put together a guide on all the best places to go wine tasting around the city.

1. Novili

Novili

Novili is a wine shop situated just on the outskirts of popular Parque Lleras. That puts it tantalizingly close to the Marquee Hotel

At this wine shop, you’ll find bottles upon bottles of just about every type of wine you could think of.

And, when I say every type of wine, I really do mean every type of wine. There are red wines, whites, rosés, sparklings wines, imported wines, domestic wines, and so much more. You’ll definitely find a bottle that piques your interest while you’re here.

If you want to try the wine before you buy, you’re more than welcome to do that, too. Just ask the shop staff about their wine tastings so that you can try out what wines are on offer and pick your favorite one!

2. Viña Sicilia

Viña Sicilia

You’ll have to venture a little way out of Medellin to go to this spot, but Viña Sicilia is definitely worth a visit if you love wine.

Viña Sicilia is a winery situated near Olaya, a small town in the countryside.

The winery has a Mediterranean theme, which can be seen in the hotel design and in the restaurant.

Here, a wine tasting comes with so much more than just a glass or two of the different drinks. You’ll also get a tour of the vineyard and accompaniments of meats, bread, fruits, and cheeses.

It’s a great way to get out of Medellin for a weekend, especially since you can stay there overnight. Then, come back in the morning refreshed and ready to jump back into the fast-paced city life.

3. Urvino

Urvino

Another hot spot for wine-tasting is Urvino Vino y Licores. This spot is situated in Barrio Manila, super close to the Landmark Hotel!

This spot is another wine shop where you can try liquors as well as pick up a bottle or two of your favorite wine. There are also nifty wine accessories such as automatic bottle openers that make drinking your favorite beverage easier than ever!

If you want to try before you buy, that’s definitely an option here. Urvino is all about wine education, and one of the ways they provide that is through tastings.

Not only do they offer wine tastings, but they also offer wine workshops where you learn more about how to recognize different types of wines. The workshops and tastings they offer include:

  • Introduction to the world of wine
  • Whiskey workshop
  • Rose workshop
  • Gin workshop
  • Wine course
  • Sparkling wine course
  • Rum, tequila, and gin workshop

No matter what kind of wine, whiskey, or other spirits you enjoy, you’re sure to find a good tasting at this spot.

4. Cava Club

Cava Club

Cava Club is located in the southern part of Medellin in Itagüi. That’s a little bit of a trek from Casacol’s properties, but it won’t take you long on the metro!

Once you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a restaurant where you can order wine or beer tastings. These are more like flights than a guided experience, but they’re still fun.

What’s great about Cava Club is that they’re constantly hosting fun events.

About a month ago I attended a self-makeup course there. And, over Christmas, they hosted their very own Chiva Rumbera!

Talk about having a good time!

5. San Carbon

San Carbon

Okay, so this one isn’t actually a wine tasting. But, it’s still a tasting

San Carbon is a restaurant that focuses on steaks and grilled meats. They don’t offer wine tastings, but they do offer rum tastings!

Now, if you’ve spent a little while in Medellin, you’ve probably seen lots of advertisements for different types of rum. It’s almost as popular as aguardiente!

If you’re wanting to try some Colombian rum of your own, San Carbon could be a great place to go. They offer a rum and food pairing that gives you bits of meat, cheese, and fruit to pair with your rums.

The pairing usually features five rums, although you can actually add more if you want. Just be sure to book ahead of time as these special events are on a reservation-only basis.
