The Best Romantic Restaurants in Medellín

The Best Romantic Restaurants in Medellín

TLDR? Carmen is one of the best romantic restaurants in Medellin for a sweet date night.

I’ve been with my partner for a long time, but that’s not to say that we don’t need to get out of the house and go on a date night every now and then.

In fact, we make a point of doing so regularly.

Now, while there are lots of great places to eat in Medellin, there’s nothing quite like a romantic restaurant with the lights dimmed low.

If you’re looking for these types of places, I’ve got your back. Here’s my curated list of great date spots around the city.

Carmen

Carmen

Just walking in the door of this place will have your date saying ‘wow’. As you walk up to the doors of Carmen, you’ll head down a path with a canopy of greenery.

Then, once you step inside the door, you’ll feel as if you’re walking into a cozy cavern. The stone walls and yellow lighting makes the place instantly feel warm and inviting.

In terms of the menu, it’s honestly hard to pick between all the great items.

I’d say that you’ve got to start with a cocktail. My personal pick would be the Zombie, a tropical flavored drink that’s adorned with edible flowers.

In terms of what to eat, you should really go for the chef’s tasting menu. The menu comes with seven dishes and wine pairings, meaning you’ll get a chance to try all of the restaurant’s best dishes and drinks.

La Provincia

La Provincia

La Provincia is a renowned restaurant in Medellin, partly thanks to its 26 years of experience in the world of catering and food.

With an elegant and sober space on Milla de Oro in the city’s south, this restaurant offers a memorable experience full of exquisite flavors and a pleasant atmosphere.

La Provincia’s menu has a good mix of both national and international food. There are all kinds of meat and seafood, pasta, vegetarian and vegan options.

There’s also an extensive wine cellar for you to choose the perfect drink for your romantic night with that special someone.

In Situ

In Situ

In Situ is actually located inside the Botanical Garden of Medellin. To me, that makes it a double-whammy for a date night!

You can start by wandering the garden paths with your significant other. Then, once you’ve worked up an appetite, head indoors and sit down to a meal at In Situ.

This place has a casual-elegant atmosphere, and its menu is both traditional and signature. It offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner that you can either enjoy at a table with a view or can take as a picnic in the Botanical Garden.

The dishes stand out for having typical Colombian ingredients in gourmet preparations. If you’re wanting to try some classic paisa food but are looking for something a bit more upscale, this is the place for you.

Like many of the other romantic restaurants around town, at In Situ, you can celebrate special events with prior reservations such as weddings, graduations, and even engagement parties.

Tal Cual Arte

Tal Cual Arte

Tal Cual Arte is a restaurant gallery with eclectic cuisine, combining food and art in one place. They exhibit works by local Medellin artists, so if you’re big into the art scene, you’ll probably enjoy this place.

It’s not just the walls that are adorned with art, either. The presentation of the dishes in Tal Cual is also a work of art.

Speaking of the dishes, these are composed of different meat and seafood, pasta, and rice, and can be accompanied by a cocktail from the extensive cocktail menu.

Although the meals here are technically Peruvian, you can actually find a pretty good mix of different types of meals.

That way, if you’re not fussed on ceviche and chica morada, you can still find something you like.

Another thing to know about this place is that they actually offer a brunch menu on Sundays. Or, you can treat your date to one of the nights when they’re having live music

Either way, I’m pretty sure you’ll blow your special someone away.

Niku

Niku

Niku is a Japanese cava bar-type restaurant that stands out thanks to its eccentricity. What do I mean by that?

Well, Niku has a super underground vibe, where you walk in and instantly feel as if you’ve stepped through the doors of an ultra-exclusive speakeasy

Set with electronic music, fire shows, dances, and mystical characters posing in striking costumes, Niku is a restaurant that definitely gives some meaning to ‘Avante Garde’.

This restaurant has a pretty extensive menu for those who love Asian cuisine, sushi, and raw meat, which gives it a super fancy feel.

In terms of what to order, well, that’s going to be a tricky one. I’d personally recommend going with a wine pairing which will walk you through tasty menu items from the appetizer to a desert.

It’s a great way to get a real feel for what the meals are all about and what to expect while you’re there!

You can also organize private events at this place, where the chef will work with you to come up with a customized menu. Talk about making a night to remember!

Oci.Mde

Oci.Mde

If it’s fine dining you’re after, there aren’t many places that will beat Oci.Mde. This place has a menu that changes every six months based on what’s in season.

As a result, even if you take your date here more than once, it’s a great pick for eating some fresh local cuisine!

In terms of what’s on the menu, well, you’ll find a pretty mixed array of dishes. For example, they’ve been known to feature fresh and organic fish, Andean tubers, vegetables, and herbs, and other locally sourced ingredients.

Another reason why Oci.Mde is such a great place for a date is that they’ve got an extensive wine menu. You can sip your way through whites, reds, and rosés that will leave you feeling super satisfied.

In terms of the atmosphere, this place has got beautiful leafy plants hanging from the ceiling. The lights are warm and dim, with red neon accents that add to the cozy vibe.

If you’re wanting a place where you can cuddle up with your date over tasty plates of food, Oci.Mde is definitely a good choice.

Malanga Del Tropico

Malanga Del Tropico

Located in the Laureles neighborhood of Medellin, Malanga del Tropico is a place full of bright sunny plants and cozy warm lights.

In other words, it’s the perfect place for a hipster date night.

I’d actually compare the vibe of this place to a greenhouse in Europe. The little white accents and climbing ivy make you feel as though you’ve stepped into a secret garden.

In terms of the menu, there are plenty of things for you to pick from. Their seafood is delicious, making the ceviche a great item to start with and the paella a nice main course.

Malanga de Tropico has some fantastic cocktails, so if you love sipping on Pina Coladas (and getting caught in the rain), this is a good place to go.

Another thing I like about this place is that you can reserve them for events. Let’s say you’re past the romantic dates part of your relationship and are ready to throw an engagement party.

Well, this might be the place for you!

Its classy atmosphere and great food make it ideal for anyone wanting to put on an afternoon soiree.
