Need quick answers? Medellin is home to tons of different museums, but our top pick is the Memory House Museum!

When I go to a new city, one of the first things I do is check out the museums. And, there are tons of museums in Medellin that you can explore.

With everything from tacky selfie museums to museums that explore Medellin’s history, there truly is something for everyone.

To help you figure out which museum you’ll visit on your trip, I’ve put together a comprehensive guide. Let’s take a look at the many museums of Medellin!

Casa de la Memoria

Casa de la Memoria

The concept behind Casa de la Memoria, or the Memory House Museum, is a bit of a sad one.

This museum is dedicated to teaching people about the armed conflict in Colombia and the damage it’s caused. It talks about how Medellin has been rebuilt into the thriving city we know, and about the many city improvements that have helped that happen.

What’s cool about this museum is that you’ll get a chance to look into the lives of real people. Hear their stories and learn a bit more about the history of this beloved city.

Address: Parque Bicentenario, Cl. 51 #36-66, Medellín, Antioquia

Museo del Agua EPM

Museo del Agua EPM

Museo del Agua EPM is kind of a strange concept for a museum. This spot is sort of like a cross between a science center and an environmental education lecture.

You’ll get to wander through the museum and check out digital, technicolor displays that show you just how important water is to our planet.

Although it’s not your typical museum, it’s definitely a place that’s worth checking out. And, you’ll come out the other side having a little more appreciation for our planet.

The Planetarium in Medellin

If you love outer space then you should definitely check out Medellin’s planetarium.

The planetarium runs regular shows where you can learn a bit more about our planet and how it works.

A few specials include learning about the sun, the history of the planet, and taking an immersive dive through our solar system.

What’s cool about the planetarium is that you’re in a surround-sound and iMax room. The result is that you really feel as if you’re in outer space!

History buffs and art lovers alike will go wild at the Museum of Antioquia. This museum is a natural history and art museum hybrid.

Here, you’ll get to check out religious and historic artifacts as well as take a look at art from a number of different time periods.

The best part about this museum is that there’s a huge section dedicated to Fernando Botero. If you loved checking out the free park at Botero Plaza, you’ll love checking out the exhibit at this museum.

Art fans will love taking a stroll through the Modern Art Museum. This museum is dedicated to some of the stranger art of our time.

What’s spectacular about this museum is that the exhibits change all the time. When you go, you could be treated to art by some of your favorite modern artists!

Another great thing about the Modern Art Museum is that they regularly host workshops and late-night events. That can be a great way to visit the museum and experience something off the beaten track.

Selfie Museum

Selfie Museum

I actually stumbled across this museum by accident one day when wandering around Poblado. If you head out of the main Parque Lleras area, you’ll quickly find this small museum tucked away on the hillside.

The selfie museum is pretty much exactly what you would expect it to be.

This museum is full of quirky rooms full of fun backdrops and unique props. It’s a fun place to hang out with friends and take some silly photos for an afternoon.

Casa Gardeliana

Casa Gardeliana

If you’re at all interested in dance, I highly suggest you check out Casa Gardeliana. This museum is dedicated to Carlos Gardel, a renowned tango dancer who died in a plane crash in Medellin.

Today, you can wander through the museum and learn all about the history of tango in Medellin.

You can also participate in workshops, seminars, and tango classes if you really want to get into the swing of things!

El Castillo Museo y Jardines

El Castillo Museo y Jardines

Did you know that Medellin has its very own castle?

Although it’s not quite like the romantic palaces in Europe or the stunning Cinderella castle in Disney, this is definitely an interesting place to check out.

The castle museum is a gothic-style residence that has now been turned into a beautiful museum. Here, you can stroll through the beautiful grounds and admire antique furniture on guided tours.

You can also just hang out there for the day and get some sketching done or go on a picnic!

Parque Explora

Parque Explora

Parque Explora is a mix between a science center and a theme park. Here, you’ll get a chance to check out tons of hands-on science experiments and learn a bit more about how the world works.

You can also wander through an aquarium or check out the vivarium. Or, if you’re more of a technology person, head over to the 3D cinema for immersive learning experiences.

No matter how old or young you are, I’m confident you’ll find something fun to do at Parque Explora.
