The Best Ice Cream in Medellin

best-ice-cream-medellin

No time to read? Madelo is the best ice cream parlor in Medellin!

There is no shortage of ice cream around Medellin. That’s good news because ice cream is a blessed respite from the heat during the dry season.

Whether you’re a gelato lover, can’t get enough of milkshakes, or prefer your ice cream in a plain old cone, Medellin has got your back.

So, are you ready to check out the best ice cream around the city? Keep reading for all the top spots to pick up a cone in Medellin!

Madelo

Madelo

First on the list is, of course, my favorite.

The reason I love Madelo so much is that it’s not just any old ice cream. This ice cream parlor actually sells frozen yogurt. So, if you’re wanting to feel healthy while you wolf down some mint chocolate chip, this is the spot to check out.

Madelo offers rotating flavors, so you can always swing by on multiple occasions. That way, you don’t miss any of the new treats!

Whichever flavor you choose, it’s still bound to be a unique cup of ice cream. Why? Because Amoratto has more than 60 toppings for you to choose from!

Apart from the millions of toppings, you can also pick from a variety of other treats including:

  • Italian sodas
  • Milkshakes
  • Chocolate volcanoes with ice cream
  • Parfaits
  • Smoothies

No matter what you choose, you seriously can’t go wrong.

Amoratto

Amoratto

A close runner-up to Madelo is Amoratto. This ice cream shop is located just a couple of blocks from the Manila Boutique Hotel which makes it a super convenient spot for many Medellin visitors.

At Amoratto, you’ll find classic scoops of ice cream, of course. However, this ice cream shop is so much more unique than just cups and cones.

Amoratto has an array of ice-cream desserts. That includes donuts, cakes, and other sweet treats!

But, where does Amoratto really shine? In its ice cream bars

Forget about supermarket Magnum bars. Amoratto has chocolate-covered bars of gelato that are decorated in nuts, chocolates, and candy.

If you fall in love with the ice cream, you can even put together a gift box. That’s one sweet treat I don’t think anyone would turn down!

Amor-Acuyá Gelato

Amor-Acuyá Gelato

Amor-Acuyá is a play on the Spanish word maracuyá, meaning passion fruit. And, this gelateria is certainly passionate about ice cream!

The handmade gelatos at this ice cream shop are much more no-frills than some of the other spots around town. Still, they serve up a mean cup of ice cream.

Here you can order cups and cones (single, double, or triple) full of artisan ice cream. The flavors regularly change, so you’ll have to visit more than once.

You can also add cookies and a few simple toppings to your cone if you like. However, it’s really not necessary considering the size of the scoops they serve!

Cafeteria Arte Dolce

Cafeteria Arte Dolce

Cafeteria Arte Dolce features two of my favorite things: desserts and coffee. And, when I say desserts, I mean great ice cream!

Here, you can order your standard scoops and sundaes. But, where they really shine is with their hand-spun milkshakes.

The milkshakes here transported me straight back to my childhood, visiting the ice cream parlor in my small town after baseball practice. They’re truly delicious and come in tons of different flavors.

And, the best part? You can sip on a pretty good cup of coffee or espresso to wash down your milkshake!

Nuovo Fiore Heladeria Italiano

Nuovo Fiore Heladeria Italiano

Nuovo Fiore may have an unpronounceable name, but don’t let that deter you. This ice cream parlor, located in Laureles, is still a great place to investigate if you’re on the hunt for ice cream.

Now, if I’m being truly honest, the real draw of this ice cream parlor is the price. You can get great gelato without paying an arm and a leg like you might at other spots around town.

I also love the fact that it’s located in Laureles. It’s easy to reach from several Casacol properties without having to walk for miles or hop on a metro.

Nuovo Fiore doesn’t have a ton of ice cream options, nor does it have thousands of fancy treats for you to try.

However, what they do have is good and definitely a great way to get out of the sun and cool down for a minute or two.

Nice Lab

Nice Lab

Another Laureles spot to check out is Nice Lab. On the outside, this parlor looks just like any other ice cream spot around town.

In fact, it’s pretty small, which makes many people walk right by it!

Don’t fall victim to this occurrence, however. Nice Lab is a hidden gem and definitely a place you should take a look at if you’ll be staying in Laureles.

Nice Lab makes all their ice cream from dry ice. That means it’s sort of like eating a science experiment!

Your ice cream contains 0% air, which means that it’s much smoother than regular ice cream.

You can also get some super-cool add-ons, such as syringes of syrup, infusions, and other unique toppings. Plus, your snack comes out in a cloud of smoke. How cool is that?!

Pércimon

Pércimon

Regardless of whether you’re staying in Medellin or Poblado, you can find a Pércimon somewhere. This gelato chain has locations scattered around the city, making it easy to get your hands on some good ice cream.

There’s a location inside the El Tesoro Mall in Poblado, which is a hangout spot of mine. My hobby? Grab an ice cream and stroll around the mall with it in hand!

Pércimon is also a great spot for my vegan friends out there. They not only offer frozen yogurt and ice cream, but they also have almond milk ice cream!

You can get your ice cream in a cup, cone, or in an ice cream bar. My personal favorite to get here is the greek yogurt with a ‘poket’. The ‘poket’ is basically a piece of cake in addition to your ice cream.

As you might expect, there are plenty of toppings to throw on your ice cream. Think fruits, granola, nuts, chocolates, candies, and a whole lot more.

Laureles Address: Avenida 74B ## 39B – 119, Medellín, Antioquia

Poblado Address: Cra. 30 #10 C-228 Local 234, Medellín, Antioquia

Prego Gelateria

Prego Gelateria

Prego Gelateria is another spot that’s worth mentioning. This spot is actually situated in Envigado, but that’s convenient if you’re staying at, say, Casacol’s Seranilla property

Prego has a pretty fixed menu, with the occasional change from time to time. Here you’ll find:

  • Vegan flavors: passionfruit and Intenso (black coffee)
  • Low-fat flavors: salted peanut, yogurt, Belgian chocolate, and hazelnut (my favorite)
  • Standard flavors: kinder, tres leches, Ferrero rocher, milo, almond, pistachio, key lime pie, French vanilla, cheesecake, deep cherry, and red velvet

This shop only offers standard scoops. But, you can choose to get them in a cup or a cone. And, even if you ask for a cone, you can still get a spoon to make it easier to eat your ice cream.

My personal favorite thing to do at this ice cream parlor is to order delivery. Prego offers deliveries on Whatsapp as well as on Rappi, so it’s pretty easy to get your hands on some ice cream.

Grab a Cone (or Bowl) of the Best Ice Cream in Medellin

I’m no stranger to good ice cream. So, trust me when I say Medellin has got some of the best I’ve tried!

Pick your favorite of these ice cream spots or find one that I haven’t explored. Either way, I’m confident there’s a cone or two in your near future.
