La Garrucha

La Garrucha

There are two ways you can get to the restaurant La Garrucha:

  • Hike
  • Cable Car

If you choose to hike, then you will take a scenic loop by Cascada Amor and River Corazon. This hike does take about an hour one way, so it is best to leave early in the morning.

In case you are not an early riser or don’t feel like hiking, no worries! You can take the cable car which is located near Parque Principal.

This will take you right up to the restaurant in just a few minutes. You can either pay for a round-trip ticket or just a one-way ticket if you plan on hiking back down.

Once you arrive at La Garrucha, you will be blown away by the views. The restaurant is located on top of a hill and has outdoor seating that looks over the entire town.

The menu offers traditional Colombian dishes as well as snacks such as empanadas. La Garrucha is a fun place to hang out and relax.

Plus, taking the cable car is different from Medellin’s cable car system. The cable car in Jardin is manually operated and only goes up and down when requested.

But, if you ask anyone in town, they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Mirador la Herrerita

While it isn’t a full restaurant, Mirador la Herrerita does offer snacks and drinks. It is the perfect place to go for a coffee or beer while enjoying the incredible views of Jardin.

However, you can still get your fill on arepas, empanadas, and other Colombian snacks.

What sets this spot apart is the atmosphere and incredible views. You can relax in a deck hammock which is a giant hammock built into the deck.

Or, you can enjoy the views from one of the many chairs and tables that are set up. If you are a bird lover, you will be happy to know that many hummingbirds come to feed on the flowers surrounding the mirador.

This is a great place to relax and soak up the rays. Just be sure to put on sunscreen as there is no shade.

Mirador la Herrerita is about a 5 minute walk from La Garrucha. You can go here first, enjoy some snacks and drinks and then have a nice meal at La Garrucha.

Café Jardin

Café Jardin

One of the most iconic spots with a view in Jardin is Cafe Jardin. Digital nomads, backpackers, and tourists all flock to this spot for the wifi, good coffee, and of course, the views.

When you are in the middle of town, you will see the Jardin sign on the hillside. That sign is located right at Cafe Jardin.

The cafe is large, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It also has a few different levels, which allow for different types of views.

This is more of a pastry shop than a restaurant, but they do have some food options. However, most people go for Instagram-worthy views and coffee.

If you need a place to stay nearby, then we recommend Gulupa Ecolodge. This is a true eco-lodge with all of the amenities you need.

Plus, it’s only a 2-minute walk from Cafe Jardin. You can read our full review of Gulupa Ecolodge here.

Like others on this list, Cafe Jardin doesn’t have an exact address. But any local will direct you to a tuk-tuk or moto-taxi.

Just be sure to agree on a price before getting in, as they will try to charge you more if they know you are a tourist.

What is the Best Restaurant with a View in Jardin?

If you want to have dinner with a view in Jardin, then you have two choices. You can either go to La Garrucha or La Terraza

Both spots offer different types of food, but both have incredible views. But if you want to see the sunset, then La Terraza is the better option.

La Garrucha is on the opposite mountain, so you won’t be able to see the sunset. But, you will get to enjoy the views of Jardin during the day and at night which is pretty special in itself.

We would say La Garrucha is a better lunch spot after a hike. But, La Terraza is better for dinner to watch the sunset.
