The 10 Best Rooftop Bars in Medellin

Medellin rooftop bars

It took a while for the rooftop bars of Medellin to reach the heady heights of elevated drinking dens to be found in other global cities.

Up until recently, the city’s best, biggest, and brashest bars and nightclubs tended to be tucked away in warehouse districts, far from the city’s residential neighborhoods.

Medellin’s efforts to hit a high note with foreign visitors in the last 10 years, however, have been accompanied by a proliferation of bars with a view popping up on the last floor of the city’s top hotels and hostels.

If you’re interested in checking out some of these prime rooftop bars, we’re here for you. Let’s get inspired by some of the best places to grab a drink and have good views of the city in Medellin!

1. The Rooftop at the Marquee Hotel

The Marquee offers some incredible experiences, such as their coffee tasting experience. This is one of the reasons it’s such a popular spot to visit.

However, if you’re after something a little stronger than coffee, you should check out their rooftop bar.

The rooftop comes alive during the late afternoons and well into the night. There, you’ll enjoy a slightly quieter rooftop experience than some of the other bars around the city.

It’s a classy, and high-end spot that keeps the drinks coming.

Where to Find The Marquee

The Marquee is, unsurprisingly, located in the heart of El Poblado. Considering it’s one of the classiest spots on the list, it’s no surprise that it would also be located in Medellin’s classiest neighborhood.

Address: Cra. 38 #9A-13, Medellín, Antioquia

2. Mosquito Rooftop

Mosquito Rooftop bar

You can’t miss the 11-story poshtel, The Somos, with its distinctive staircase linking the basement bar and diner to the rooftop.

You can take the elevator to the top, of course, but the scenic route up or down offers plenty of chances for running into the hotel’s fun-loving guests.

Owned by one of Medellin’s most talented architectural studios, A5 Arquitectura, both of the Mosquito social spaces (the basement and the rooftop) are a treat for lovers of clever, contemporary design.

You might have already put in a shift at one of their co-working creations, Noi Coworking, which is located close to the Museum of Modern Art. The space isn’t enormous but it’s perfectly formed for rubbing shoulders and getting down with a good-looking crowd.

Get there early-ish for a Gin & Tonic and a deep house sunset with an impressive 360  view of the city and Medellin’s marvelous mountain backdrop.

Where to Find Mosquito Rooftop

By Colombian standards, this rooftop bar closes early. Still, considering you’ll be able to enjoy the space until midnight, you shouldn’t have any trouble soaking up the sights and sipping on your favorite cocktails.

Address: Calle 10a #40-19, Poblado, Medellin

3. Cierto at Landmark Hotel

Cierto Rooftop by Landmark Hotel medellin

CIERTO is a recent discovery making the top of our list for two very particular reasons. First things first, the views from up there are out of this world. Picture this: you’re chilling on the rooftop, drink in hand, and taking in the jaw-dropping medellin cityscape from a complete different point of view than of the traditional Poblado location.

Now let’s talk about the food. CIERTO serves up this Nikkei-style cuisine that will leave your taste buds doing a happy dance. It’s this crazy fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors that’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. The chefs put so much love and attention into every dish, and trust me, you can taste it. They’ve got a menu packed with mouthwatering creations that will take you on a culinary adventure you won’t soon forget.

No matter what you’re celebrating, CIERTO is the place to do it. The vibe is just right, the views are insane, and the staff treats you like royalty. It’s all about creating those unforgettable memories with your crew. So grab your friends, head over to CIERTO, and get ready for a night you’ll be talking about for years to come.

Seriously, don’t miss out on this rooftop gem. Go check out their menu here and get a glampse of all they can offer on their instagram account here.

Where to Find Cierto

Cierto is located in top floor of The Landmark Hotel, a pet and family-friendly hotel, located in Manila, El Poblado.

This 4-star hotel is located in Manila, a trendy and upscale neighborhood in El Poblado, just minutes away from the most touristic places in the area.

The hotel offers a range of luxurious rooms and suites elegantly designed with contemporary décor and comfortable furnishings. It features three restaurants, a rooftop bar and pool with a panoramic view of the city, a fitness center, spa and yoga studio.

Address: Calle 14 # 43D 85 Manila, El Poblado

4. The Envy Rooftop

The Envy Rooftop

Big and brash, the cherry on The Charlee Hotel’s cake, The Envy Rooftop, isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Having said that, buffed-up extroverts that enjoy showing off their six-packs and the voyeurs that get off on that sort of thing, all love a little bit of The Envy at weekends.

Split over two levels with an aquarium-style pool that leaves little to the imagination, The Envy is as bling as rooftops get in Medellin, especially on the ever-so-boozy brunch on the last Sunday of every month.

Friday and Saturdays are when it gets pumping, with big-spending groups of guys flashing their plastic to keep the champagne or whisky overflowing.

If you’re more of a flushing violet but still want to check out one of the best views of Medellin’s Manhattanesque skyline go early and taste your way through a sushi menu that would turn some of the Itamae’s at the best Asian restaurants in Medellin positively green with envy.

Where to Find The Envy

Envy Rooftop is close to home, located right here in Poblado. It’s the perfect place for those wanting to get out of their vacation rental for a night on the town.

Address: Calle 9A #37-16, Poblado, Medellín

5. Los Rooftops

The Los Patios Hostels in hip and happening Manila has not just one, but two of the best rooftop bars in Medellin.

Comprising two buildings, both with a rooftop area made for mingling, Los Rooftops allow you to mix and match through the night combining the Ziruma Tiki Bar and El Bar.

Both these bars are popular with a flashpacker crowd that has made Manila their Medellin home-away-from-home.

The rooftops come to life in the evening but are also good to go to during the day as venues for early morning yoga sessions or as makeshift offices for digital nomads.

Starting at 16:30, however, the rooftop bars swing into action. With an informal vibe comprising craft beers, a fair to middling cocktail menu, and a familiar soundtrack for global travelers, Los Rooftops are a tippity-top way to get a night out in Medellin started.

Where to Find Los Rooftops

What’s great about Los Rooftops is that they’re located in our favorite neighborhood – El Poblado. Poblado is a place that’s packed full of nightlife, which makes this spot ideal for those who want to go bar hopping.

Address: Carrera 43e # 11-40 El Poblado, Medellín

7. 360° Rooftop Bar

360-degree Rooftop Bar is a popular location to witness beautiful sunset views in Medellin while drinking your favorite refreshing cocktail. It features an elevated and trendy haven and spectacular panoramic views of the neighborhood.

You will also find the rooftop pool, a temperature-controlled heated pool where you can spend your afternoon under the sun. And the best part is you get to experience live DJs on weekends.

360° Rooftop Bar is on the top floor of the all-suite Haven A Design Hotel near Lleras Park.

Where to Find 360° Rooftop Bar

360° Rooftop Bar is open daily, from Sundays to Thursdays between 8 am to 10 pm and from Fridays to Saturdays between 8 am to 2 pm. It’s the perfect hangout spot when you want to chill and are a Haven A Design Hotel guest.

Address: Cl 10A #36-29, Medellín, El Poblado, Medellín, Antioquia

8. Foxey Pub

Foxey Pub is the best rooftop bar for craft beer fans. It’s within the trendy Manila, making it a fun hangout spot with your hipster friends.

Foxey Pub lets guests enjoy beautiful sunset views while sipping local cold brews and enjoying Rock and Roll. What makes it even more unique is that it’s not on top of a fancy hotel or a 20-story building. Instead, Foxey Pub is within a three-floor building famous for digital nomads, boutique hotels, and coffee shops.

On the second floor of Foxey Pub are seven microbreweries sourced worldwide. You can get the chance to taste every batch before ordering your chosen craft beer!

On the other hand, the rooftop on the third floor is packed with an open roof, TVs, and various tables. Drink more beer while watching domestic soccer, NBA, and NFL.

Where to Find Foxey Pub

Foxey Pub does not get as crowded as the wilder rooftop bars in El Poblado. But it will still get you excited while dancing to your favorite bar songs.

It’s closed every Monday. And the opening hours for the rest of the week are from 4 pm to 2 am on Thursdays to Saturdays and 4 pm to 11 pm on Tuesdays and Sundays.

Address: El Poblado, Medellín, El Poblado, Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia

9. Panorama

Panorama is known for having two locations: Laureles and Provenza. If you want to meet tourists and locals, visit the branch in Provenza, Poblado. But we prefer Panorama in Laureles because it’s less crowded and offers trendier vibes.

Regardless of the branch, Panorama boasts beautiful greenery scenes centered in a concrete jungle. You will find a wide variety of plants and almost no city views in this rooftop bar. We actually see this pretty relaxing because it tends to help you forget you’re in the middle of the bustling city.

Panorama could have better dish options, but their cocktails are a must-try!

Where to Find Panorama

Panorama offers affordable menu prices. You can visit its Laureles and Provenza branches, but both are open daily at the same time.

Address:

Laureles: Carrera 73 con circular 3 – 8

Provenza: Calle 8 #34-33

10. El Cielo Rooftop Bar

Where to Find El Cielo Rooftop Bar

El Cielo Rooftop Bar is basically the famous restaurant on the topmost floor of El Cielo Hotel. This luxurious accommodation ensures relaxing nights after exploring the city. The rooftop bar is open daily except Sundays.

Tips for Medellin Rooftop Bar Hopping

Rooftop bar hopping should always be the best experience, especially when it’s your first time in Medellin. Naturally, you must follow the proper dress code, understand the bar’s reservation policy, and choose the best time to avoid large crowds.

Dress Code

You must always consider the dress code when visiting rooftop bars in Medellin. Even though most bars feature relaxing vibes, you must still keep in mind essential guidelines in the proper rooftop bar attire. Here are a few tips:

  • Wear smart casual attire. You can go for a stylish yet comfortable look like dress pants or a button-down shirt with a dark pair of jeans.
  • Forget your flip-flops or sportswear. Go for a pair of loafers or chic sandals.
  • If you plan on meeting someone, always dress to impress! Wear a tailored suit or a beautiful cocktail dress.

The Right Timing

The opening time and “happy hour” are different across various rooftop bars in Medellin. And if it’s your first time, researching and planning your route are important. Most rooftop bars open early in the afternoon, while you can also see a few opening at midnight.

We also know many of you love visiting bars during happy hour because drinks are often discounted. Always ask the bar about its happy hour time so you won’t miss it.

Reservation Policy

Rooftop bars are undoubtedly trending in Medellin. This means expect large groups every single night. Plus, there’s also no guarantee these bars can accommodate all walk-in guests.

To secure a table, we recommend booking in advance. Not all rooftop bars are spacious, so they can get packed at once, especially during peak seasons. It’s always best to research before heading to the bar to be aware of its reservation policy.

On another note, there are also rooftop bars that exclusively accept walk-in guests only. This is why researching is critical! You might also encounter rooftop bars that only allow guests to stay within a specific time frame or a minimum number of people to secure the reservation.

Safety Precautions

The most essential reminder is to practice safety precautions at all times! Always watch your drinks, and be mindful of your surroundings. Plus, you must always be aware of what you’re drinking, especially when leaving it unattended.

This is why it’s always best to come in groups and rely on safe transportation options. You can also enable ride-sharing services to let your friends know you’ve safely arrived home.

Grab Some Guaro at Medellin’s Top Rooftop Bars

There’s nothing quite as glamorous as spending the night at one of Medellin’s rooftop bars.

You’ll enjoy sweeping views of a glittering city as you sip on some of your favorite cocktails.

Just remember—stay safe and be prepared for the weather. After all, this is the City of Eternal Spring!
