The Best Drag Shows in Medellin

best-drag-shows-medellin

TLDR? Club Oráculo hosts the best drag nights while Bar Chiquita is home to the best drag brunch in town.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a strong advocate, one of the many activities I enjoy when traveling is checking out drag shows.

Drag shows are fantastic ways to support local performers, support the local LGBTQ+ scene, and just have some fun! The drag queen scene is still relatively underground in Medellin, despite the many LGBTQ nightclubs and bars popping up around the city.

If you’re like me and can’t get enough of these kinds of shows, this guide is for you. Here I’ve put together a few of the best drag shows that you can check out around the city.

Club Oráculo

Club Oráculo

First on our list is Club Oráculo, which also happens to be one of the smaller drag shows out there.

This club is one of the late-night bars located around Medellin that you’ve got to check out. Open until 4 am, the party really never stops here.

While Club Oraculo mostly focuses on drag nights rather than drag brunch events, there are plenty of queens for you to interact with.

Every Thursday starting at 10 pm you’ll be able to enjoy a nightclub that’s jam-packed with these lovely ladies and all their glitter and glam. The event lasts until closing and just requires a 20,000 COP cover charge. That’s a small price to pay for the fun you’ll have!

Although your cover charge doesn’t include food or drinks, you can still purchase those separately. There are plenty of yummy cocktails for you to try as well as a good selection of top-shelf liquor.

It’s important to note that there are the occasional drag events on Saturdays, too. Be sure to check your calendar and plan to visit on a night when the queens will be out and about.

Bar Chiquita

Bar Chiquita

Bar Chiquita is located tantalizingly close to the Marquee Hotel, making it an ultra-convenient place to check out for anyone staying in the heart of Poblado.

Bar Chiquita is an LGBTQ+ bar where you’ll find all sorts of shenanigans happening after dark. The bar opens in the late afternoon and stays open well into the wee hours of the morning. That makes it a great place for the night owls out there!

Everything at Bar Chiquita is over-the-top, even their menu. You’ll find crazy, colorful cocktails and decadent desserts on the line that

Another thing we love about Bar Chiquita is that you can also host private events. Whether you’re wanting to throw a birthday party or celebrate your bachelor party, Chiquita’s private events are a great way to do so.

Drag shows take place on Sundays from 11:30 am onward, with evening drag queens starring in Karaoke and comedy shows throughout the week. No matter what day works, you’ll have no problem checking out a show at this venue.

QUERIDA Bar

QUERIDA Bar

The third spot in Medellin where you can enjoy a drag show is at QUERIDA Bar. You’ll find QUERIDA Bar located in popular Poblado, putting it right in the middle of Medellin’s nightlife scene.

Like Club Oráculo, QUERIDA Bar is a late-night venue. That means that it’s after dark when the show starts and the fun really begins.

The drag shows at QUERIDA Bar are much more formal than some other shows you might see. The queens here have their very own stage and take to it with a passion. You’ll enjoy live music performances, dances, comedy, and so much more from the versatile queens at the location.

Apart from the drag shows, there are plenty of other activities that you can enjoy in the venue. For instance, check out the two different ambiances in the bar. One is a snazzy, speakeasy vibe while the other transports you back to feudal Japan.

If you want to witness a drag show here, just come after 9 pm any day of the week. The shows usually start with a sexy male floor or pole dance and then move on to the drag show.

Just remember – you’ll need to purchase a drink or two while there. The drinks aren’t included in your cover charge, but there are plenty of great options on the menu making it worth ordering something anyway.
