The complications of travel in the time of COVID-19 have made getting tested essential to be able to get onto a plane. Each country has set up different rules and regulations to control the entry of visitors and their citizens into the country and while Colombia implements its vaccination program and until Colombia gets the virus under control or there’s a globally accepted COVID-19 passport for travel, it’s probably going to be necessary for visitors to Colombia to get a negative test before they return to their country or travel on to another destination.

Fortunately the hospitals in Medellin are very good and there are a number of pop-up locations and services to get tested at your Medellin vacation rental which have made the task of getting your COVID-19 test done fast and relatively painless.

Travelers can check Headout.com to verify the entry requirements for countries and make sure you have ticked all the boxes for a smooth departure. In the case you require a negative COVID-19 test to enter your next destination, here’s a list of locations to get a test done.

Getting tested for COVID-19 in a hospital or clinic
There are some excellent hospitals and clinics in Medellin, which means you can feel safe traveling to the city in case you do get sick or have an accident. Also many of the city’s best hospitals are located close to your Casacol luxury vacation rental, hotel or long-stay apartment so make it easy to get a test for Coronavirus if you need one to travel with. If you’re staying in Poblado then CediMed Internacional is set up to receive international visitors. They have satellite testing clinics throughout the city but the one in Poblado is the best for foreign visitors in need of medical assistance.

Not far from Poblado or Laureles, the Clinica Las Americas is an easy venue to get your COVID-19 test done fast. They have a drive-thru facility and do the testing on site so there have been cases of PCR tests coming back in less than 10 hours. Please don’t count on that being the norm, however. In general, they advise that the results can take between 24 and 48 hours so ensure you get your COVID-19 test done with plenty of time to be able to board your flight. They also have alternative locations throughout the city where you can take the test. These open from 10:00-14:00. For full information visit the Clinica Las Americas website.
