The Best Places to Buy Makeup in Medellin

When you travel, it’s not uncommon to have to leave your favorite makeup at home or they get damaged during the trip. In fact, I regularly pack just the bare necessities in terms of makeup. 

The trouble is, once I arrive at my destination, I sometimes find I don’t have everything I need (er, want) in terms of makeup. 

Luckily, in Medellin, you really don’t have to worry. The city has some fantastic beauty shops where you can pick up everything you need. 

I’ve done the research and put together a quick list of my favorite beauty shops around Medellin. Here are my top places to buy makeup in Medellin!

BeautyHolics

BeautyHolics is a super well-rounded store offering makeup, brushes and beauty tools, hair products, skincare items, and nail polish. 

What I like about this store is that, unlike some of the other shops you’ll see in this guide, they don’t just sell their own brand. 

They sell some popular brands that I used back in the US such as Max Factor, CoverGirl, Vitú, and more.

I recently picked up an amazing lip stain from Maybelline there. It was pretty cheap, and it’s good quality.

Purpure MakeUp

Purpure is super popular not just in Medellin, but all over Colombia. They’ve got both physical shops and online stores that you can use. 

Purpure is sort of like the Sephora of Colombia. They’ve got pretty much everything you need in terms of makeup, skincare, tools, nail products, and even hair products.

There’s actually a pretty cute section in the store called purpure mini, which are beauty products for kids. They’re kind of fun little items to stock up on if you’re traveling with little ones or want to bring something home to small family members.

The prices here are super affordable, and you can pick up everything you need and only spend a couple of bucks—perfect for stocking up on travel makeup.

Amaua

Amaua is an elegant store with makeup artists making up the majority of their staff. They’ve got some pretty good product recommendations if you’re looking for help picking out different items. 

Amaua’s products are all cruelty-free, and a lot of them are vegan as well. They’ve got a good range of makeup palettes and have a lot of different falsies, so if you’re needing to pick up either of those items, you’re all set.

What I personally like about Amaua, however, is actually their tools. They’ve got some great brushes, which can be hard to find at a good price.

Fedco

Fedco has a more conservative makeup line, so if you prefer nude palettes to bright colors, this is a pretty good shop to check out.

The products are not the cheapest on the market, but they’ve got a good range of both products and brands for you to pick from. 

The reason Fedco made the cut on this list, however, is actually because of the staff. They’ve got some great makeup tips, which for me is always appreciated.

Atenea

Atenea is another pretty well-rounded makeup shop. A couple of the products I’ve tried (and loved) from there are: 

• Cafe Glimmer Eyeliner
• Base 1st Scene Olive Atenea
• Sk Eraser Makeup Remover Atenea

It has many products made under its own brand, although you can find some bigger brand name items as well. Still, their own brand is pretty decent, especially their makeup remover. 

I always like to try my makeup out in the shop, but they offer shipping to any part of Colombia. If you don’t want to leave your Casacol rental, you can just order things for delivery.

MAC Cosmetics

I won’t lie. I was surprised when I found MAC Cosmetics lurking around Medellin! MAC isn’t cheap, but they’re probably one of the better quality shops you’ll find around Medellin.

MAC is well-known for having high-quality items that are long-lasting. For me, that’s a must-have if I’m going to be racing around on adventures while I travel!

You can find quite literally everything you need in this place, including tons of eye color palettes, individual eyeshadows, lipsticks, blush palettes, and more.

They even have a support movement called PRIDE, which is all about giving back to the gay community. Pretty cool, in my opinion.
