Need quick info? Viña Sicilia is a winery located two hours away from Medellin where you can taste some wine and learn about winemaking.
There really is nothing as relaxing as a glass of wine with friends or family. That’s one of the reasons why I love visiting wineries so much!
Medellin is home to a pretty fantastic winery, actually.
Located a little way out of the city, Viña Sicilia is a phenomenal spot to hang out and sip on some wine for an afternoon!
So, are you interested in learning more about Medellin’s best winery? Then keep reading, because I’ve got a story for you!
Viña Sicilia is located just an hour and a half outside of Medellin. Now, don’t let that put you off!
Getting around Medellin is actually pretty easy. You can book private cars that take you out to the winery or you can rent a car. Both are pretty affordable options, especially since many private tours don’t charge extra for additional passengers.
If you want to, you can also take a tour. This tour includes the transportation as well as your experience, making it a good way to get to the winery if you’re worried about transportation.
The main attraction at the winery is, of course, the vineyard. This is what I came here for, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!
When you first arrive at the winery, you’ll be greeted with a welcome cocktail. The cocktail is, as you might imagine, a grape juice-based concoction. It wasn’t my favorite drink, but it’s nice to start off with something!
Next, you’ll be treated to a guided tour of the vineyard. The tour is pretty cool, as you get a chance to learn about the different types of grapes. You’ll also learn what types of wines they make.
As part of your tour, you’ll learn more about the wine-making process in general. It’s pretty interesting learning how long of a journey grapes undergo just to turn into wine!
At the end of the tour, it’s time to sit down for a Mediterranean-style lunch. And, of course, you’ll be treated to a glass of house wine.
Price: $206,400 COP (about $60 USD)
If you want to add to your experience, you can also go for a wine tasting and pairing. The tasting is a rose, a white, and a red wine.
During your tasting, you’ll learn about the seven S’s of drinking wine:
I’ll be honest, I skipped that last part and just enjoyed my three very generous wine tasters. But, if you want to be a true sommelier, go ahead and spit the wine out into the provided bucket.
Now, you’ll also get a tasting board prepared with your wine. This is a collection of cheese, sweets, fruits, and bread that you eat with your wine to enjoy the full tasting experience.
Price: $313,500 COP (about $90)
There are quite a few different experiences to try out at the winery, not just exploring the vineyard itself! Another way you can enjoy the winery is to spend time at the spa. Here are the different packages available.
If you’re wanting to enjoy a spa or wellness retreat out of the city, Viña Sicilia is a great place to do it.
This package includes a ton of different benefits, including a welcome cocktail for you to sip on.
Once you finish your drink, you’ll get to try a wine therapy body treatment with exfoliation. Then, you’ll get a massage that incorporates grape seeds and grapeseed oil to help soften the skin.
After your massage, enjoy a facial before heading to the jacuzzi where you’ll sip on a glass of wine. Your package also includes a Mediterranean-style lunch and access to the pool once your spa is over.
Price: $391,000 COP (About $105 USD)
If you don’t want to go for a full spa day, you can actually purchase a la carte spa options as well! Here are a couple of the choices available.

Since it is a little way out of the city, you might want to use Viña Sicilia as a weekend getaway! The winery offers a couple of overnight plans if you want to stay there.

Medellin’s best winery (and one of the only wineries!) is definitely Viña Sicilia, without a doubt. The wine is great, the views are gorgeous, and the atmosphere is peaceful.
