Flights to Medellín from Asia: The Ultimate Guide

Flights to Medellín from Asia: The Ultimate Guide

TLDR? Flights to Medellin from Asia tend to be relatively affordable, and you can often fly direct.

Organizing a trip and finding the best prices for flights requires a lot of planning, and the process can seem a bit overwhelming in the beginning.

If you’re in a country in Asia looking to travel to Medellín, Colombia, there are some things you need to know before you start packing, such as the best time to visit and how to find the best flights.

Read ahead to learn everything you need to know about flights from Asia to Medellín!

Before Starting the Search

As with any search, the internet uses your data and cookies when showing you results.

In order to avoid this, I recommend opening your browser in Incognito Mode. This will prevent unnecessary advertisements and biased searches. You don’t want to be distracted by flashy ads when searching for a flight.

While Kayak is one of the easiest places on the internet to check prices and flight dates, keep in mind that many users have reported receiving refunds and cancellations after booking what they believed to be an insured trip.

Because of this, I recommend verifying prices and times with the airline directly before purchasing a flight on an intermediary internet page like Kayak.

Pro tip: Make sure all your documents are up to date, and that you’ve met the requirements needed to enter and stay in Colombia. If you use medications, make sure you’re able to get the ones you need in Colombia.

Here are some recommendations on traveling from major cities in Asia:

Shanghai, China

Shanghai, China

Shanghai, China, to Medellín is perhaps one of the longest trips from Asia to Colombia.

You’ll encounter at least three stops before arriving in Medellín, and the trip from start to finish can take up to 34 hours.

I recommend using American Airlines when flying from Shanghai to Medellín, as you’ll have a better chance of making all your flights with the same airline.

Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul, Turkey

If you’re in Turkey but looking for a change of scenery, you’re in a great place to do so.

To travel to Medellín from Turkey, you’ll start your journey at the Istanbul airport. You’ll encounter at least two stopovers before reaching the City of Eternal Spring, adding up to about 22 hours of travel with flight times included.

Again, I recommend booking with American Airlines. Stopovers usually occur at a London airport and either JFK or Miami Internation airports in the United States.

Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo, Japan

If you’re flying out of Japan, I hope you don’t mind layovers.

The journey from Tokoyo to Medellín takes approximately 23 hours. Airlines like American often only have two stops despite the distance.

You’ll travel from the Narita airport and make two stops at airports in the United States before reaching paisa city.

Be prepared to take several planes if you’re traveling from Bangkok International Airport.

Your best option is to make an advance reservation with EVA Air. Prepare for a stopover at Los Angeles International Airport in the United States.

Depending on your tickets and the weather, you may have to wait a bit to catch your next flight at LAX. Another line I highly recommend is Avianca for its comfortable seats, excellent service, and good food.

Most of the time, your flight from Thailand to Medellín will take around 30 hours, so make sure to wear comfortable clothes and bring your headphones or a book to read.
