Best Places To Get Indian Food In Medellin

TLDR? Naan Sabores de India is the best place to get Indian food in Medellin.

Ahh Indian food – it’s perhaps one of the world’s greatest culinary traditions. And one that has spread to all four corners of the world due to its amazing flavors and beautiful culinary traditions.

If you’re a fan of Indian food like me, you’re probably on the lookout for any available spots to munch at that wherever you might be headed in the world.

Luckily for the itinerant Indian food fan, Medellin has a cache of quality spots. In addition, they are located in some very convenient locations in the city, making it easy to satisfy this craving whenever it might hit.

Naan Sabores de India

Naan Sabores de India

Naan is quite a classy joint that lies near the center of one of the most popular neighborhoods in the city. I’m speaking of the chic, comfortable and cosmopolitan Laureles area. However, it’s popular enough that it has two locations, one in Laureles and one in Poblado.

Naan is quite close to the second Parque de Laureles, which means it’s smack dab in the middle of dozens of other bars and restaurants to hang out at. Its proximity to the park also means you can veg out and enjoy some of the city’s beautiful natural scenery before heading to the restaurant for a meal.

The interior of Naan is quite vast, and it seems especially suited to delivering great dining experiences to large parties. The environment is almost open air, and the tables and furniture appear sleek and modern. The same sentiment applies to the restaurant’s very contemporary-looking menus.

The prices at Naan are a bit upscale, but it’s nothing that’s going to make you bat an eye if you’re coming from the states. Or a country that has a comparable price point for eating out.

Since I was dining for one, I ordered small and took out a tasty order of the fish vindaloo with a side of jasmine rice and naan bread. Yum!

The Curry Lounge

The Curry Lounge

The Curry Lounge is another Indian joint that’s just around the corner from the Laureles Naan location. So if you’re intent on going on a little tour of all the Indian places in Medellin, you’ll be able to knock out a couple in one go with this pair.

The curry lounge is a bit more petite than Naan, and the service is also a bit zippier. So, it functions as a good place to stop off for a quick lunch while you’re on the go.

I found that the food was good, perhaps not quite as good as Naan’s. But, the prices were a bit lower, and it worked well when I was in the mood for something a bit quicker as I went on my way to check out other things in Medellin.

The Curry Lounge’s extensive menu features most of the Indian classics you would expect from a standard Indian food place. This includes things like Tikka Masala, various curries, and Rogan Josh.

If you’re in the mood for takeout, the restaurant is accommodating, as its meals are available on most of the major food apps, including Rappi.

Like Naan, The Curry Lounge has the bonus of being close to some of the beautiful parks of Laureles. These parks are one of the features that make that neighborhood so great.

Chana

Chana

One of the best parts about Indian food is that it’s so accommodating to vegans and vegetarians as a cuisine.

With Indian, you don’t feel like you’re missing out on something when you decide to go veggie, as many of the best dishes of the cuisine are vegetarian. They do this without skimping out on any of the flavors!

Chana is a vegan restaurant in Poblado that is named after one of the most famous vegetarian dishes in Indian cuisine. It’s the very delicious Chana Masala!

In addition to the Indian-inspired dishes on the menu, Chana has a huge selection of all kinds of veggie-based treats and dishes. These range from a veggie burger to more adventurous selections like the Matcha Smoothie Bowl.

The prices and service at Chana are both excellent, and you get a lot of food per order, so even if you’re not vegetarian, you probably won’t be leaving hungry.

New Mirch Masala

New Mirch Masala

Picture this: you’re out on the town in Poblado, in the heart of the action near Parque Lleras. The drinks are flowing, the people are chatty, and the DJ is kicking out some very tasty jams.

Out of nowhere, despite your epic inebriation and joie-de-vivre, you’re struck with a debilitating hunger that simply must be satisfied. If that hunger is speaking for Indian food, then that’s where New Mirch Masala comes in.

New Mirch Masala is about as standard-issue as Indian food gets. But, it finds its edge in the fact that it’s smack dab in the busiest part of Poblado and is open later than the rest of the entries in this post.

It comes in handy for those late-night hunger pangs that might hit you when you’re not expecting them.

The prices are reasonable, the service is zippy, and it’s a block away from your favorite bar. Should be enough for now!
