When visiting a small colonial town like Jardin in Antioquia, Colombia, one can’t help but fall in love with its captivating charm. Jardin is a town located in the heart of Antioquia, and it’s known for its beautiful flowers and lush greenery.
However, as a digital nomad, you may be worried about finding good WIFI and working conditions in Jardin. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!
In this article, I’ll explain the WIFI strength in Jardin and the best places to work from. Are you ready? Let’s get to work!
With a population of slightly over 13,000 people, Jardin, Colombia, is a small but mighty town. However, it doesn’t get the same tourist attention as places like Guatape or Medellin.
With that said, the low tourist traffic makes it a great place to visit if you’re looking for a more authentic experience. And if your work revolves around blogging or vlogging, you’ll be able to capture content that’s unique for viewers.
When you come to Jardin, you’ll need more than one day if traveling from Medellin. The reason being is due to the travel time. Jardin can be four hours or more from Medellin when traveling by bus.
Not to worry, when you get here, you’ll find plenty of things to do inside and outside of the city limits. If you aren’t hiking or hanging at Parque Principal, you’ll need to find strong WIFI to get some work done.
For the most part, Airbnbs and hotels will have strong enough WIFI for general use like checking emails and browsing the web. However, if there’s a storm, the signal can kick out from time to time.
If you want to stream movies, you usually won’t have an issue if it isn’t a community WIFI or a hotel with bad WIFI. Always double-check the reviews before you book your accommodation to make sure that other travelers had a positive experience with WIFI strength.
It never hurts to download some movies or shows onto your device before you come, just in case you run into an issue with the WIFI connection.
When it comes to working online, most people recommend going to a cafe since they always have strong WIFI connections. You will want to bring your laptop or tablet and get cozy because you may be there for a while.
If you are a digital nomad who is looking for a place to work in Jardin, we recommend the following cafes:
The strongest WIFI we found was at Cafe Macanas Parque Principal. When facing the cathedral, it is the first cafe to the left.
There are to Cafe Macanas: Parque Principal and Dulceria Jardin. The Cafe Macanas Dulceria Jardin is a bakery and doesn’t have WIFI. However, it is still worth checking out to buy some homemade jam, coffee, or try something from the bakery.
The Parque Principal location is perfect for digital nomads because there’s a lot of seating. You can sit on the patio in the back, under the glass roof in the middle, or at a table near the front.
We highly recommend trying their breakfast before getting to work because it is the best we’ve had in Jardin. The family who owns the Cafe Macanas knows their coffee, so make sure to ask for a recommendation.
You’ll also receive exceptional table service when working at Cafe Macanas Parque Principal. If you need more water or coffee, the wait staff is always happy to help. Don’t forget to tip the staff because they work hard and take care of their customers.
Insider tip: order a passion fruit milkshake; you won’t regret it!

Our second pick offers a beautiful view of the mountains and is also located on Parque Principal. De Los Andes Cafe is a great place to work because the tables are set on a covered balcony.
The WiFi isn’t as fast as Macanas, but it is still very good. If you like to people watch as you work, this is the perfect cafe for you.
You order at the front counter when you first walk in and then find a seat. We recommend sitting on the balcony so that you can enjoy the view and people-watch.
However, tables on the edge of the balcony go quick, so you may need to wait a while to get one. If you can’t find a seat on the balcony, the other seats in the cafe have a view of Parque Principal.
Breakfast isn’t the highlight at De Los Andes, but they do have sandwiches and pastries that make a good midday snack.
The thing to get here is a slice of cake or a frappe. The frappes come in a variety of flavors, but my favorite is oreo!

While it doesn’t have a cafe in its name, El Jardin de Jardin is a vegan restaurant with a beautiful garden in the back that makes for a great workspace. Even if you aren’t vegan, the food here is worth trying.
Not only does it have WIFI, but the connection is solid. It has covered and uncovered seating, so you can choose whether you want to work in the sun or shade.
The service is very good, and the staff will bring you whatever you need. If you want a place to work that is quiet and has a relaxed atmosphere, El Jardin de Jardin is perfect for you.

Being a small town deep in the Colombian mountains, there are some places digital nomads won’t find WIFI. However, that doesn’t mean that these places aren’t worth visiting.
For example, you will find several bars and restaurants along the plaza that don’t have WIFI. However, they are still great places to go for a drink or bite to eat.
In addition, being a coffee-growing region, there are cafes on about every block. While some of these have WIFI, others don’t.
And some, even though they have WIFI, don’t have a strong enough connection to be able to get any work done. So, if you’re looking for a place to set up shop for the day, make sure to check out our list of the best cafes with WIFI in Jardin.
Unless you purchased a SIM card in Medellin or Bogota with a data plan, your mobile hotspot would not work in Jardin.
The reason being is that even with an international phone plan, you won’t get strong data speeds in Jardin.
The best way to stay connected while in Jardin is to purchase a SIM card with a data plan or use one of the many cafes with WIFI that are available.
No matter if you are spending a weekend in Jardin or jumping from country to country, we recommend that all digital nomads use a VPN.
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) encrypts your internet connection and makes it more secure. Whenever traveling, there is a chance of hackers or government bodies snooping on your internet activity.
By using a VPN, you can browse the internet without worrying about someone stealing your passwords or personal information. We recommend using ExpressVPN because it is one of the most reliable and affordable providers on the market.
This is especially true when working at cafes, hotels, or hostels where the WIFI isn’t very secure. If you’re working on sensitive information or just want to be extra safe, it’s not a bad idea.
VPN services are relatively cheap, and for what they provide, we think they are worth the investment. You can check out services like ExpressVPN, NordVPN, or CyberGhost. Do your research and find the service that works best for you.
When looking for a VPN, I recommend finding one that offers:
Overall, we think that Jardin is a great place to work for digital nomads. Not only are there several cafes with WIFI and good coffee, but the town also has a lot to offer in terms of things to do. So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and head to Jardin, Colombia!
