San Rafael, like many of Medellin’s nearby towns, has a charm of its very own. Antioquia is known for its outdoor tourists activities, and San Rafael is no exception, visited for aquatic reactions like the thermal waters in Las Leñas or Atuel’s Canyon.
The town is the perfect place to escape the city and enjoy the calm of the natural landscape. If you’re travelling from Medellin, the trip will take around two hours through the beautiful Colombian countryside.
As most of the pueblos that are near this one. like Guatapé or Jardín you would notice that the city is over, so we can go in and enjoy the calm. And for the first time see what is to be in Colombia, or in a Pueblito Paisa.
Best Places to Eat in San Rafael, Antioquia
Though this small town doesn’t have as many as restaurant options as a city like Medellin or larger village like Santa Fe de Antioquia, you’ll still be able to find some delicious food to fill you up.
Whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I’ll walk you through the resturant options available in San Rafael.
Let’s begin our tour through food!
A tu Gusto Restaurant San Rafael
At A tu Gusto, located in the middle of San Rafael, you’ll find quick service and high quality ingredients.
Unlike most restaurants in San Rafeal, A tu Gusto provides all-day eats, opening at 6am and closing late at night. If you’re in need of an early breakfast or a late-night snack, this is the restaurant for you.
I recommend the Tostadas with different toppings, or meat lovers can ask for their special breakfast. And you simply can’t miss their smoothies and sandwiches!
Do you need a place to chill out at night after a long day of activities? Check out the Carbonero Gastrobar, where you’ll find a nice place to drink and share some quality time with loved ones, or make some new friends if you’re travelling alone.
Warm lighting and gorgeous architecture gives the restaurant a relaxing atmosphere, and if you come at the right time, you’ll have the opportunity to listen to some amazing live music.
I recommend trying out their cocktails and appetizers.
If you’ve still got room in your belly after chowing down at these delicious restaurants, there’s a couple of spots in town to grab some snacks or a quick pick-me-up after a hike!
Repostería FRESH
FRESH is the perfect place to reload your energy after a good meal and a walk through town. They have sweet and salty options like desserts, burritos, and tacos, as well as a great selection of Venezuelan food.
There’s options for all kinds of palates at FRESH, but I suggest you step outside your comfort zone and try something new!
Although the small town of San Rafael has a limited amount of restaurants, they make up for it with the quality of their food and efficient service.
